Aftermarket Customer Support Engineer

Key Tasks:

  • Providing Engineering input to Customer Support
  • Discussing and solving complex problems with manufacturing departments, suppliers and customers
  • Conducting Design Reviews to establish the cause and solution to in-service issues
  • Designing bespoke aftermarket parts, using Catia, to solve in-service issues
  • Building prototypes based on aftermarket designs
  • Liaising with Production, Manufacturing, Quality, Configuration and Customer Support
  • Creation of Engineering Change Requests.
  • Creation of Service Bulletins to implement changes to processes/parts on current in-service programs
  • Creation of Service Information Letters to implement changes to processes/parts on current in-service programs.
  • Creation of Temporary Revisions to implement changes to processes/parts within the Component Maintenance Manual
  • Some Travel may be required to support aftermarket or customer installations 

The above list is not exhaustive and the scope of the job will grow with experience and additional tasks may be required as and when business needs change. 

Skills / Experience:

  • Degree or relevant experience in an Engineering discipline
  • Able to use Catia V5/V6 to design bespoke Aftermarket parts/assemblies
  • Good understanding of the process surrounding the creation of ECR’s
  • A high level of technical and scientific knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems
  • Good oral communication skills and confidence in dealing with a wide range of people from various departments
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office
  • Precise and concise written communication skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • The ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a team
  • Organisational skills, such as time and resource planning

Desirable:

  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience within a Manufacturing or Engineering discipline
  • Previous experience of the aerospace industry
