Thompson Aero Seating takes its name from James who has been working in the aircraft seat manufacturing business for 25 years. Apprenticed at Aircraft Furnishing Ltd, James progressed from tool maker to Lead Design Engineer.
Early one Monday morning in 2001 whilst trying to sleep against the window in a particularly uncomfortable aircraft seat, James decided that there must be a better way to design aircraft seats. By the time the flight was over, the concept of the new Cozy Suite economy and Vantage business class seat had been formed.
Using the skills and insight that James had developed over the years, a number of patents have been granted which form the basis for the unique seats produced by the Company. Headquartered in James's home town of Kilkeel Northern Ireland, Thompson develop seats for the worldwide airline industry.
