Edelweiss brings Thompson’s new VantageXL+ to Europe

Thompson Aero Seating (TAS) announces its new VantageXL+ will today be showcased by Edelweiss as the first European carrier to offer the A350-specific seat. The VantageXL+ is the newest iteration of the hugely popular VantageXL, optimised for the A350 fuselage.
Edelweiss is announcing the seat today and will be taking delivery later in 2026. Each ship set will accommodate 32 PAX in a 1-2-1 LOPA configuration and retrofitted to the airline’s fleet of A350s.
The VantageXL+ features a series of carefully crafted adaptations to optimise customer living space and enhance the passenger experience in the A350 environment. Key modifications include:
- Expanded footwells and re-sculpted internal walls to provide greater legroom and increased knee clearance.
- Refined suite top rails with a newly contoured profile, enhancing personal living space.
- Improved IFE monitor positioning, increasing viewing distance for a more immersive experience.
Passenger choice:
‘Edelweiss Business Suite’
Excitingly, each cabin will include an enhanced front row, comprising four seats, which the airline is branding the new ‘Edelweiss Business Suite’. These VantageXL+ First suites enable a first-class experience at the same passenger density as an all-business-class cabin. For these suites, Edelweiss has selected closable doors, and large 32-inch monitors for a full cinematic experience. In the central suites, the room divider can be individually adjusted, allowing the suite to be used flexibly for guests traveling together. Of course, being part of the TAS Vantage seating family, each seat converts into a spacious and extremely comfortable fully flat bed.
‘Edelweiss Business’
For the 28 seats branded ‘Edelweiss Business’, the airline has opted for an aisle side shield for privacy perfectly demonstrating the flexibility of the VantageXL+ platform. Each of these offers a fully flat horizontal bed and 100% direct-aisle access. Passenger wellbeing is at the forefront of the design with the Edelweiss customisation offering extensive work and relaxation space, with multiple personal stowage solutions and a 17.3” monitor. Edelweiss has also been able to express its own brand vision through the seat’s colours, features, trim and finish.
Andy Morris, Chief Commercial Officer for Thompson Aero Seating, says: “Every VantageXL suite delivers an outstanding passenger experience through a wide range of amenities, stowages, and the ability to integrate the latest in IFE equipment, all carefully designed to provide incredible levels of comfort. The VantageXL+ represents another step forward in TAS’s commitment to refine and enhance a living product to meet evolving customer requirements. We have been pleased to partner once again with the Edelweiss team on this notable customisation of our seats.”
