Interview with Mark Collins, Head of Human Resources & Development at Thompson Aero Seating

The first quarter of 2022 has got off to a busy start for the Human resources team at Thompson Aero Seating. The company has been creating bespoke business-class airline seating, leading the market since 2010, and the industry is bouncing back strongly from the impact of the global pandemic. Thompson Aero Seating is an exciting place to be right now, with the future looking brighter still. The HR team have embarked on an unprecedented number of new initiatives across People, Talent and Culture to position itself for further growth.

As a major subsidiary of AVIC Cabin Systems, Thomson Aero Seating has the continued financial backing and ambition to offer successful career development to its employees. “We have placed Northern Ireland firmly on the world aerospace map, and we intend to keep it there”, says Head of HR and Development, Mark Collins.

“We are investing in people through our in-house development programmes, apprenticeship schemes, secondments and more; and in addition, we have big plans to increase headcount in 2022 and beyond. With a number of new contracts to fulfil, we need the right people to join our experienced team and cement our position as world leader in our industry.”

“In the latter half 2021, we welcomed our HRBP of Talent, Michelle, and Specialist Recruiter, Catherine, taking us to a team of 11. We continue to invest significantly in our Engineering and Innovation Centre, to stay at the forefront of innovative design for our customers. This will offer many talents exciting opportunities to grow with an innovation-driven company. Further plans to increase headcount across all Thompson Aero Seating teams means that we are now looking for HR Business Partners, an HR Manager and Recruiters to take us to the next level!”
